It’s charmingly brutal, with beautiful procedurally-generated islands and adorable soldiers juxtaposed against the blood-stained realities of war. You control the broad strokes of the battle, giving high level commands to your soldiers who try their best to carry them out in the heat of the moment. It’s accessibly deep, with simple player inputs masking a dynamic combat simulation that make it inviting to new players while challenging veterans.

AudioDifficultI like the art style, the sounds, the mechanics, the depth, etc. Overall it's a cool concept, executed decent. The pitfall is that the experience doesn't seem very dynamic. Once you've played it a few hours, you've basically had your fill. You can unlock better starting stuff, but that doesn't really entice me more into replaying all that much. The difficulty is also pretty steep and linear. You hit a wall eventually where every island just slaughters you with more brutes than you can handle.

DifficultHate itLove itStrenuousnessI have been playing this game for years off and on and it never disappoints! I love this game so much, it does get super stressful at times but when you survive a particularly hard island it's the best feeling ever. I would highly recommend trying out this game if you like stratagy and tower defense games. You will probaly see in other reviews that the game has had some saving issues and that a lot of your saves will get deleted/corrupted. This has been patched and is no longer an issue.

AdsLove itNo ads. Depth of play with "character progression" of your different squads, the option of perma-death. Mini vikings and a fresh art style. Bad North is a fantastic game. It's simple, yet deep, can be played in a casual way, progressing one island at a time, or you can sit down and campaign away. Highly recommended!!
